Some tips to make your stay a pleasant and rewarding experience.

Harmony Hill provides most of what anyone would need for a pleasant stay. Still, there are some things you might like to bring if only as a backup.

A flashlight – most rooms have flashlights, but in the odd chance one isn’t there it is nice to have a backup. Also good to have if you’re camping.

Water bottle – there is water available in all of the common areas, still we find it nice to have your own water bottle handy.

Layered weather-appropriate clothing – being on Hood Canal, the weather can be ever changing, so it is always good to be ready for Washington weather.

Ear plugs – the Hill is, for the most part, a very quite place. That said, some people are very sensitive and it’s always good to be prepared.

Rain gear/umbrella – We do locate umbrellas around the grounds, but when we are fully booked they can sometimes be harder to find when you need them.

Sturdy walking shoes that can handle rain – most of our paths are either paved, graveled or barked, still it is a natural environment waiting to be explored and much more comfortable with the right shoes.

Camera – lots of beauty and wonder to be photographed as well as potential friends to meet and remember.

Toiletries, hair dryer, personal items, etc. – rooms do supply most of what you would need and yet it is always nice to have the things you are most comfortable with. You will need to bring these things if camping.

Tent and camping gear (if camping) – all that is provided is the wooden platform for your tent. A good book or two or three – you are welcome to use our library, but better to curl up with something you’ve been waiting to read.

A journal – giving yourself a personal retreat especially at a place that supports your intentions can often lead to some real insights and transformations. Writing in a journal can both lead to these insights or once realized hold them.

Creative supplies – most of us wish for more time to explore our creativity. Here is your chance. Our Yurt is often available and offers the space and some creative materials you can use, but if you have a specific art form, bring what you need and use the Yurt as your studio (ask at time of booking to make sure it is available during your stay).

Food essentials – if you do plan to prepare your own meals, while we do supply cooking gear, we do not provide food items like oil, butter, salt and pepper, other condiments, or milk, rice/soy milk, etc. You can store these supplies in the shelf space and refrigerators in the kitchens.

Eye pillow or sleeping mask – this is the perfect place and opportunity to take one of those delightful and refreshing daytime naps we rarely have time for.

Your own pillow – Guests find our pillows to be quite comfortable, but if getting a good night’s sleep is one of the things you want to accomplish then if you have a favorite or orthopedic pillow remember to bring it.

Telescope – we do provide binoculars for watching the canal or getting a closer look at the mountains, but we do get pretty dark nights here free from big city lights, so if you have a telescope or know someone that does, borrow it and enjoy the stars.

Harmony Hill strives to be a scent-free and allergen-free campus for the benefit of all visitors, so please leave perfumes and animal companions at home (call to inquire about service animals). Harmony Hill is not responsible for your personal belongings and valuables are best left at home.
