WELLNESS SESSIONS AT HARMONY HILL
Harmony Hill can provide many different levels of education in relationship to staff and individual enrichment and growth. There are two categories of topics below, some of which are perfect for businesses which are looking for a two to four hour segment which will engage staff and empower them to use these tools in a proactive way after your retreat at Harmony Hill.

Please see our "Business Sessions" if you are interested in a more in depth, customized session for your business or organization, or our "Health & Renewal Sessions" section below for information on sessions related to personal wellness, some of which may be pertinent and appealing to your business/work group as well.

WELLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE

Stress Reduction at your Desk with Deanna Minich, PhD, CN, RYT ($100 pp/10 person minimum for two hour session)
Does your neck feel knotty, wrists feel tight, and shoulders like you're carrying a sack of potatoes? Unleash the repetitive strain, stored tension and exhaustion that makes you less effective at work and ready to collapse at the end of the day. In this session, learn simple movements, stress reduction techniques, and simple nutritional tips to re-energize you. These techniques and tips can easily be incorporated at your desk throughout the day to relieve stress and tension, and help you return to your work with a clear mind and renewed focus.

Better Breaktimes: Recharge your Effectiveness with Deanna Minich, PhD, CN, RYT ($100 pp/10 person minimum for two hour session)
Do you find yourself in an afternoon slump, unable to focus and get things done? Simple strategies and techniques can turn a 15-minute break into a mini-retreat to recharge, refocus, and renew. Learn how healthy, easy, and tasty snack choices can boost your effectiveness and concentration. Discover how to incorporate simple "spa moments" into your breaktime. Practice simple stretches that can lower stress and induce effective relaxation, foundational for effectiveness.

Promoting Resilience & Avoiding Burnout at the Office ($100 pp/10 person minimum for two hour session)
Resilience - or strength in the midst of change and stress - is now recognized as a major asset in the workplace, and one of the primary ways to avoid burnout. Resilient individuals see change as a challenge rather than a threat, responding rather than reacting to stressors. They perceive a higher level of supervisor support, co-worker cohesion and overall social support. Learn specific resilient behaviors and coping strategies, and how to practice them both in your workplace and your personal life. This class uses tools based on biofeedback from HeartMath™ to teach stress resilience

MAKING SENSE OF NUTRITION
As food journalist Michael Pollan has said, the more we know about nutrition, the less healthy we seem to be. How did food and eating become so complicated and confusing? How do you make your way among the labyrinth of diet books on store shelves? How can you simplify your eating and yet make sure that you are getting what you need for nourishment? This class has several features to help educate you on the latest in nutritional research and you will gain tools and tips to make eating easier. In-depth sessions are available on:

  • Protein - Animal vs. Vegetable, Quality and Quantity
  • Fats and Oils - Health Aspects, Saturated and Unsaturated, Vegetable vs. Animal
  • Carbohydrates, Sweeteners, and Glycemic Impact
  • Understanding Supplements and Herbs

Alternately, you can choose a session in which all topics listed above are covered in more of a general overview format to bring you quickly up to speed with the current information in nutrition science.

CONQUER CRAVINGS AND END EMOTIONAL EATING
It has been estimated that 75% of overeating is due to emotional reasons. Food carries feelings of comfort. Thus, it is not surprising that when it becomes difficult to express emotions, we may end up stuffing them inside using food. Eating emotionally can lead us on a downward spiral, leaving us feeling guilty, physically fatigued, and even to becoming overweight. In this workshop, learn effective strategies for conquering cravings and ending emotional eating using a 3-step process.

EATING FOR CANCER PREVENTION
The role of diet in cancer development is well established. In fact, the National Cancer Institute has estimated that about 33% of cancers are diet-related. With all the nutrition information available, it is often difficult to understand what foods heal and what foods harm when it comes to cancer prevention. This informative, interactive session will leave you with tips on foods to avoid and foods to include based on recent science research. Concepts such as antioxidants, phytochemicals, organic produce, food additives, pH, sugar, and food toxins will be discussed in relationship to cancer.

NUTRITION FOR THE SOUL: 7 STEPS TO ENLIGHTENED EATING
As nutrition pioneer, Adelle Davis, stated, "We are indeed much more than what we eat, but what we eat can nevertheless help us to be much more than what we are." What most people don't realize is that foods fuel not only our physical body, but provide sustenance for other aspects of who we are, including our emotions, mind, and spirit. If you are longing for a fresh, dynamic, personal growth approach to how you eat and view foods, and if you want to understand how food connects with other issues in your life, this workshop is for you.

This session goes several steps beyond changing "diet" and "lifestyle" to the heart of the issues relating to your relationship with food and working with your inner self. You will experience an integrated approach to nutrition by being exposed to a blend of both scientific and spiritual concepts that serve as a basis for eating and health through various modalities including affirmations, meditation, art and movement, to name a few.
