One-Day Workshops for Cancer Program Alumni
These one-day workshops focus on special issues around living fully despite the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges of cancer. They were designed in response to requests made by participants who had attended our core Harmony Hill cancer programs, but who wished to experience additional topic specific workshops. As each offering is unique, qualified individuals can register for as many of these workshops as they wish in a calendar year.
We recommend to registrants that they participate in at least one of our core offerings (Tools for the Journey, or an extended cancer retreat) prior to attending these workshops. However, if you have not had the opportunity to participate in a Tools workshop or extended retreat, but one or more of these topics resonate with you, we welcome you to register.
The workshops are held at Harmony Hill's twelve-acre facility on Hood Canal, offering a tranquil retreat environment of gardens, nature trails, and spectacular mountain and water views.
Our cancer program is designed to serve as a supportive adjunct to medical treatment, and does not provide medical care.

This one-day workshop will play with various shapes of expression, from gentle movement (Qigong) to sound, to story, to creating with simple materials.
This workshop is not about making an art product or performing, but about exploring our own unique ways of sharing; and in our "expression" finding healing."

After the Storm of Cancer
Moving from Surviving to Meaning
Monday, October 26, 2009, 10am-4pm
A diagnosis of cancer brings chaos and trauma, a storm, to one's life and loved ones.
With the experience of cancer there is hopefully a process of learning: moving from chaos and trying to figure out "what's happening" to survival and then beyond survival to meaning. Marion Woodman reported that cancer made her sadder and wiser; prepared her for death and brought her present into her life as never before. But does cancer do this for everyone?
This workshop will explore questions some of which include:
What do I do with my life now?
How has cancer changed my life?
Who am I?
Am I different because of my cancer experience?
What have I gained - what have I lost?
Is Cancer a wake-up call?
What is the meaning in my life?

Loving Yourself through Cancer
Monday, December 7, 2009, 10am-4pm
Dealing with cancer can strain your connection with your body and your heart--just when you most need to take good care of yourself. It can feel like your body has betrayed you by having such a difficult illness and it can seem impossible to return to enjoying your body again. It's good to take time to remember (or discover) what is nurturing for you.
In this mini-retreat we will explore several ways to affirm and deepen your sense of wholeness and pleasure in your body, mind, heart and spirit. You will experience:
a guided self-blessing
guided massage for sharing with others and for yourself (you'll discover how nice your touch feels!)
imagery to connect with your inner wisdom
You will leave with several techniques to use at home on your own.
These practices can be especially helpful at transition points in cancer: at diagnosis or if there's a recurrence, during tiring treatments, at the end of treatment when you might feel set adrift without regular appointments, or times when you just feel so tired you don't know how to do everything you need to do.
A CD will be available for purchase that will guide you through each of the retreat's experiences.
