MOVING IN HARMONY: THE JOY OF YOGA: Inspiration & Intention
with with Denise Carrico, BFA
Saturday, January 2, 2010 ~ 10 am to 4 pm
$85 pp ~ includes delicious whole foods lunch
Inspired by the practice of Yoga & Meditation, away from the busyness of our lives at home & the hectic pace many of us keep through the holidays, may this one-day mini-retreat be an opportunity to take some much-needed time (and rest!) apart from the pull of the outer world. And in the quiet space of our own INNER world, may we re-discover what it is that we intend to cultivate & how we intend to live our lives in the New Year.
We shall use movement, meditation, silence, relaxation & breath as inspiration from which our intentions may arise & guide us well into the next year. Please join us as we welcome 2010 with joy & light. All are wholeheartedly invited!

THE JOY OF YOGA: A PRACTICE OF "FEARLESSNESS IN DIFFICULTY TIMES"
with with Denise Carrico, BFA
Saturday, September 18, 2010 ~ 10 am to 4 pm
$85 pp ~ includes delicious whole foods lunch
Using the wise and timeless teachings of the beloved Buddhist nun, Pema Chodron, as our inspiration, we shall devote this day of practice to opening ourselves up, with compassion and kindness, to what is true in our lives at this time.
We shall invite a quality of curiosity and self-inquiry into the day as we look deeply inward, guided by the practices and awareness that Pema offers in her beautiful book THE PLACES THAT SCARE YOU (which will be available in Harmony Hill's gift shop).
Given the state of the world, the economy and our own private struggles, we can "become increasingly resentful and afraid, or we can let the circumstances of our lives soften us and make us kinder and more open", Pema writes. About this, we have a choice.
In the context of our Yoga and Meditation practice (asana, breath, relaxation, seated and walking meditation), may we willingly look at the difficulties we face and may we choose softness over hardness, love over hate and fearlessness over fear.
All levels of experience and practice are welcome.

When the winters in the Northwest bring lethargy to your body and mind, antidepressant yoga practices can provide a life raft that help you sail through winter, using ancient and contemporary tools for positive mood management. Recent research from Boston University showed that yoga practices can significantly increase GABA mood elevating neurotransmitters. This workshop will show you how to access those benefits with specifically designed asana, pranayama and meditation techniques that empower physiological and psychological levity. All levels welcome. No prior yoga experience needed. Bring a journal and a water.
