DENISE CARRICO, BFA, CERTIFIED INTEGRAL YOGA TEACHER, CBC-Y

A life-long artist & seeker, Denise found her spiritual ‘home’ in the beautiful, heartful practice of Yoga and has been offering classes, workshops & retreats for over 30 years. Her hope is to make the teachings & the practices open to all who wish to deepen their relationship with themselves, to become kinder and more intimate with their own bodies & hearts, and to expand that out to the wider world as well. Her practice is a rich, integrated one – using breath, mindfulness, Metta meditation, Yoga therapy, somatic movement, stillness, rest, poetry – and is both gentle and therapeutic.

As the Yoga Teacher-in-Residence at Harmony Hill Retreat Center, Denise co-facilitates the Cancer Retreats, the Health Professional Renewal Retreats and leads Wellness Workshops. She also offers weekly Yoga & Meditation classes for the local community as well as serving as a Hospice volunteer.
And as a trained Compassionate Bereavement Care Yoga Provider, she is opening to her own ‘unattended sorrows’ and learning to rest in their midst. And wishing to offer space for others to do the same. Denise believes that ours is a ‘culture in grief’ and that, in sitting & in breath, in stillness & in movement, we may each learn to open & rest, be healed & be at peace.

She walks the quiet woods of Harmony Hill every day as a spiritual practice with her dog & her cat and hikes the mountains of the Olympics as often as possible. And cherishes what is holy & beautiful in this world: her grandchildren, the body in motion, calligraphy, the mountains, poetry, kindness, love. These words of St Teresa of Calcutta guide her life & work: “We can do no great things; only small things with great love.”
